We’re in the middle of sportfishing season here in South Florida. With so many marinas along the coast, it can be hard to separate the good locations from the GREAT locations. But, don’t worry, we’re here to help – the team at MacGregor Yachts has compiled a list of the top marinas up and down the east coast of South Florida. So, whether you’re a local or in town for a fishing tournament, we’ve found the best places for you to stay.
Miami Beach Marina
Miami Beach Marina bills itself as the “Gateway to the Caribbean in the Heart of Miami Beach” – it’s only about 5 minutes to get the Atlantic from the marina. The famous Miami Art Deco District is nearby, so it’s a great place for shopping, dining, and nightlife. It has all the amenities that you’d expect from a marina and it can accommodate up to a 250 foot yacht. The marina has direct access to the Intercoastal, Biscayne Bay, and the Florida Keys.
Give them a call at (305) 673-6000 for availability, or send them a message..
Miamarina
Near downtown Miami, check out the Miamarina in the Bayside Marketplace. This modern marina was rebuilt in 1997, and it can accommodate any yacht up to 150 feet. It’s located near many attractions like the American Airlines Arena where you can check out a Miami Heat basketball game or one of the many award-winning musical acts that come through Miami each month. The Miamarina hosts the Strictly Sail section of the Miami Boat Show.
Visit them at their website or call them at (305) 960-5180.
Pier 66
Although Pier 66 Marina and Hotel is located near Ft. Lauderdale’s finest dining, shops, and entertainment, it features more than enough luxury amenities that you might never leave during your stay! On-premise, there are five unique dining experiences including Orchids Pool Bar, offering poolside service, and Grille 66 & Bar led by 4-star chef Michael Siegel. The full-service Pier 66 marina welcomes custom and luxury yachts up to 400 feet.
For the Marina, call (954) 728-3578. For hotel reservations, call (866) 254-8878.
Bahia Mar Yachting Center
Like Pier 66, Bahia Mar Yachting Center also features a luxury beach resort close to all of Ft. Lauderdale’s prime destinations. It’s also home to the the Tortuga Music Festival in April and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October which out brokerage participates in every year. In addition to the standard amenities, you will find a dive shop, high-speed and bulk fueling, deli (they make a killer breakfast sandwich), and fine jeweler. The hotel is a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels, so you know you’ll be welcomed with a warm chocolate chip cookie!
Fill out a reservation form online or contact the marina at (954) 627-6309.
Palm Harbor
The Palm Harbor Marina is the premier marina in West Palm Beach. Onsite, Palm Harbor provides a private clubhouse that includes a business center, fitness center, game room, lounge, and restroom facilities with shower. Offsite, you’ll find that Palm Harbor is in the perfect West Palm Beach location; historic Worth Avenue and CityPlace shopping are within a five-minute drive. Nightlife on Clematis Street or entertainment at the Kravis Center is only a short distance too. You’re also only about a 15 minute cruise down the intercoastal to get to the Palm Beach Inlet.
Palm Harbor is toll-free at (800) 435-8051 or locally (561) 655-4757.
Cannonsport Marina
Cannonsport Marina on Singer Island prides itself on being an intimate marina that’s focused on service. Its 54 slips have all the conveniences of a larger marina like a fully stocked Ship’s Store and Fueling Dock. For sportfishing, the marina is minutes from the Palm Beach Inlet out to the Atlantic Ocean, and only 53 miles to West End, on Grand Bahamas Island.
Call by phone at (800) 627-8328 for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual leasing!
Buccaneer Marina
Buccaneer Marina has been open for more than 50 years in Palm Beach Shores, and right now, it’s undergoing a BIG renovation. Their website is being updated too, so you won’t find a lot of information about it. But don’t worry, their docks are still open for business as well as a fuel dock, and you’ll be able to visit the legendary Anglers Club!
Call Buccanner Marina at (561) 842-1620.
Sailfish Marina Resort
Head to Palm Beach Shores for a 94 slip destination with a unique and storied history. Sailfish Marina Resort started out as a dock for chartered fishing boats, and after a few changes of ownership, it has transformed into a full resort for the luxury yacht owner and non-fishing vacationer alike. Its proximity to the Bahamas, only 53 miles, makes it attractive to anglers. Check out the live music and entertainment or head there in August for Spiny Lobsterfest.

Square Grouper
Square Grouper Tiki Bar is a popular destination spot for locals that is known for its great food, great drinks, and an endless list of live music and events. The Castaway Marina has 19 slips for you to pull up, hideaway, and enjoy a relaxed, beach-bar vibe. It’s important to know that because of the atmosphere it’s a 21-and-up establishment. Here’s a bit of trivia: the music video for Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett’s song “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” was shot at the Square Grouper. In 2016, the Square Grouper opened a new location in Ft. Pierce.
Go to the marina page for slip rates and check their contact page for the best way to get there.
